Professor Olufunke Ola-Davis, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Ibadan, has emphasized the need for increased investment in veterinary medicine to address the challenges facing the sector nationwide. She made this appeal during the launch of “Rudiments of Veterinary Anaesthesia For Undergraduates,” a book edited by Dr. Foluso Bolaji-Alabi.
Ola-Davis stressed that investing in education is crucial for a nation’s greatness, and veterinary medicine is no exception. She urged the government to provide more funding for the profession in 2025 and beyond, highlighting that veterinary medicine is an expensive field that requires significant support.
The book launch was an opportunity for Ola-Davis to praise the author’s efforts in creating a valuable resource for students and veterinarians. She noted that the book would make veterinary surgery and anesthesia more accessible and easier to understand.
Dr. Bolaji-Alabi, the book’s author, shared that her goal was to make practice in veterinary surgery and anesthesia easier for both undergraduates and veterinarians. She was inspired by her students’ need for confidence in their knowledge and sought guidance from other experts in the field.
Professors Olayide Adejinmi and Idowu Cadmus encouraged Dr. Bolaji-Alabi to continue her work, praying for her to receive wisdom, knowledge, and understanding to write more books.
