Suspended Rivers Governor Siminalayi Fubara has come out strongly against claims linking him to militant groups. In a statement, Fubara denied any association with such groups and condemned the circulation of fake videos purporting to show pipeline attacks.
Fubara’s chief press secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, emphasized that communities where the incidents allegedly occurred have dismissed the claims, ensuring that oil and gas facilities in their areas remain secure and operational.
The governor reiterated his commitment to maintaining peace in the state, emphasizing that governance and development can only thrive in a secure environment. He warned those spreading misinformation, particularly bloggers and social media users, to stop creating an atmosphere of tension and chaos.
Fubara also urged security agencies to take action against those responsible for fabricating and spreading false reports, designed to misinform the public and tarnish the state’s image.
